Where has the pause gone in music, the break, the silence, the nothingness, the dark matter of music, its counterpart, which it needs like the day needs the night? Today's music, at least that which reaches the masses, keeps the level high. Staying tuned, always staying tuned, is a must, so that listeners stay tuned, always stay tuned. The long note has also disappeared, the really long note, one that lasts minutes, hours, perhaps even days, months, years, or at least could last. The organ is the only analog instrument that can play it.
The basic idea of this improvisation is to be a meditation on the pause and its soulmate, length, that has become music. But as with every improvisation, its king, the irretrievable moment, will also have the say here, and it doesn't like any kind of guidelines.

The freewheel is a machine component that works like a ball bearing, but locks in one direction (or vice versa). Everyone knows this part from bicycles. It ensures that the pedal does not automatically turn in the direction of rotation of the rear wheel when it moves. 4 people can enjoy the freewheel for 30 minutes. Each person puts on the climbing harness, in case of rain the umbrellas may be used.

"She can paint the night white and the daytime black. She doesn't look back... and yet this landscape is still very primal and a transition." (Bob Dylan)

Leere Zeit is an experimental audio piece - inspired by Elfriede Jelinek's documentary film "Raumsau am Dachstein", among others. What does a valley between isolation, emigration and day tourism sound like in a present in which the speed of social change is sometimes overwhelming? What sounds and voices bubble beneath the surface?
The audio piece, which will be created as a playful process, is the first artistic collaboration between Camhy and Pichler.

As part of her stay as Artist in Residence 2022, Susanne Gurschler roamed Boden and the surrounding landscape. She condensed her observations and impressions into "BODENerkundungen", lyrical images of places, locations and perceptions that transform the high alpine space into a literary landscape. The author will read from the cycle, most of which is still unpublished.
The multi-award-winning poet Sünje Lewejohann on her poems:
"Susanne Gurschler's poems are like a detailed painting; you sink into them and discover a whole world within them. Every word is exactly where it should be. Nothing in these poems is accidental. They ARE the landscapes they describe and you enjoy following them, letting them carry you over mountains and passes and through villages, almost like an Alpine Peter Huchel."

"The aim of my residency is to create a work that lies somewhere between sculpture, installation and digital art. I want to be guided by the place where I live in the high valley and the people I meet there, and use both traditional and new technical working methods. What the result will look like in the end will be determined by the emptiness."

"My artistic work explores the sculptural quality of organic and ecological materials, as well as the nature of structures and surfaces. The starting point is a morphological view of the biodiversity of nature. The changes and time traces of landscapes and forests in the advancing Anthropocene are unmanageable processes that influence the approach of my artistic work, a work on the memory of nature."

Dirty Space 3
The title of the series refers to the contrast between the "smooth" media worlds represented by models, algorithms and hardware and the noisy, chaotic, imperfect, "dirty" "real" world. The works in the series deal speculatively with syntheses and differences between the two domains. Dirty Space 3 is a site-specific, performative work that combines sound recordings of the immediate surroundings with feedback processes in the instruments used, which are also designed with set pieces from the surroundings. (Supported by the annual scholarship for composition of the BMKOES)

"I will present a slow-paced performance inspired by the surrounding landscape. It will resemble an endurance act involving a slow walk up and over a steep slope, proceeding straightforwardly and without any climactic moment. Farmer Ours
An outlet-friendly cabaret produced by Tanja Ghetta and Daniel Lenz
Director: Johannes Leismüller
What attitude can open land or soil take? How much quality can you expect from a seal? Which injuries require a farmers' association? Tanja, detached from her cow village, and Daniel, a convinced urban neurotic, present a program on a subject they know absolutely nothing about: Farmers - the stars of the furrow, the heroes of animal husbandry, the demigods in rubber boots. They haven't done any research in the field, they haven't been under the milking machine and they certainly haven't infiltrated agricultural communities. And perhaps this naivety is precisely the fertilizer that makes the punchlines sprout and sweeps the audience along to a final "I've got the farmer!"!

"I want to develop a series of panoramas about internal landscapes. To investigate how they existed in memory, as deformed with time, as affect the formation of worldviews. Combine it with visions from my memory. Detear spaces from the native village and the city that I do not have access to now."

Shine, shine, shine. 14x daydream
"My project is a tribute to doing nothing, daydreaming and time that is not focused on a goal. 14x daydreaming means lying in the sun, letting your mind wander and being unproductive - developing a routine for doing nothing. In the meantime, the sun does the work: a print develops on a sheet previously prepared with UV-sensitive inks, depicting the imprints of your own body, the things you have brought with you or blades of grass, without disturbing your own rest, virtually in your sleep. The result is objects in which no two are alike and which are created as if in a dream: colorful, disordered, unpredictable."

Kalin Mihov's proposal is for an act, a performance with the rural landscape, opening a dialog with local narratives of the abandoned and the forgotten. By using simple repetitive motions referring to archaic and obsolete field work taken out of place, context and time the artist asks how in a modern context we evaluate our actions, what is the benefit of the artistic act and how it fits into the concept of labor today.

Seams and towers, a piece of mountain scores, polyphonic singing and field recordings, which deals with alchemy and emptiness. Diagrams drawn on site form the basis and notation, time and body turn emptiness into fullness - at the seams of being, at the towers of the mountains.
artist-in-residence
How does the supposed nature, the landscape, the seemingly untouched mountain change through the movements of man? What remains of him on it, in it? Can the landscape block man, make his progress impossible? In the course of the residency, the dynamics of the landscape, which react or do not react to the human influence on it, in it, are explored linguistically.
Due to family reasons, Bernhard Aichner unfortunately has to cancel his appearance at the medienfrische. Instead, there will be a medienfrische morning pint with music and film.

Breadwinners
"In my artistic work Brotverdiener*innen I ask myself what we do with our finite lives. I ask myself what our relationship to our time can be through hard, exhausting physical labor in the countryside, as farmers and in the working class. What does leisure look like outside of regeneration and the entertainment industry? I want to find melodies based on clay pipes, organ pipes and blades of grass. A performance is planned if someone lends me a doghouse."

Ephemeral Echoes
"Placing human activities within the broader context of universal movements, time becomes a thread connecting past and present. My body is the medium of duration.in my performance art piece, I aim to focus on bodily experience, spirituality, intimacy, and emotions, I engage in fluid movements-falling, twisting, and rolling; tensing up and letting go. Throughout the performance, I interact with my surroundings, inviting the audience to breathe with me and observe our environment together, fostering a shared contemplation of life's fluidity and the ever-present embrace of change."

digital artist-in-residence
In this project I would like to explore the topic of empty time as a time when a person is not authentically themselve because of external circumstances, societal pressure, and especially laws enforced by dictatorship. It is interesting in a research sense to live through slow radicalization and tightening of the regime. You start thinking a lot about empty time and missed opportunities for creating something truly meaningful when you had this freedom, but were not ready.
Inauthentic living before realizing one's queerness can also be considered empty time. Time before you are truly yourself, before you have all the parts of your personality. When it is interconnected with living with a government that becomes more and more homophobic and starts viewing you as their main enemy, this puts empty time into dramatic perspective. Another interesting part of the empty time inside Russia - is creating something in the context of self-censorship a part of it? Or is it the only way to do something meaningful even with restrictions?
