artists 2022

There will be numerous concerts, readings and extraordinary projects to visit in the Bschlabertal in May and June. A lot of it is inspired by Dada. Here is an overview of the participating artists. Many of them are looking forward to give you an insight into their work.

medienfrische – what it is

New media and experimental art find their place in a remote alpine valley and mix with traditional ways of living and working. But what is the idea behind the medienfrische and to what extent does this project contribute to the enrichment of the local community, the region and art itself?

what is bschlabs?

At 1400 m above sea level, a remote valley in the Tyrolean Außerfern called Bschlabertal serves as the location of the medienfrische. In addition to Bschlabs, there are also many venues and artist residencies in the villages of Boden and Pfafflar, of which the latter is situated at a particularly high altitude.

Dadaism as an art movement stands for many things that are also being reflected in the idea of the medienfrische: for the break with stiff traditions, for the encounter of apparent opposites and for experimental modes of expression. And it is not the first time that Dadaism has made its way to Tyrol.

timetable

From flying rocks and communicative bots to readings in the pool and Hugo Ball’s DADA Krippenspiel – that’s the medienfrische 2022 programme. Beyond that, Austria’s highest temporary cinema shows a varied film programme and various concerts take place in extraordinary locations.

who is behind it?

What would an art festival be without the people who are behind the ideas and their realisation? Apart from the medienfrische team, it is above all the residents of the Bschlabertal who contribute a great deal to this unique project. It is created in close cooperation with the people who live there before, during and after the festival.
